Biking

May 14th, 2007

Well, its been quite a few years since I’ve been biking and with the possibility of needing to move to a city I don’t really want to be driving about. So, like any good geek I would guess, I’ve been doing my research about bicycles.

The current thought is about a hybrid bike that I’ll be riding all the time, including in stormy weather. Which of course requires some stuff for a bike that doesn’t come standard in the US. Like fenders and various lights in case I’m out past dark.

So I’m just considering the pricing of where I want to end up and what all I’ll probably need. Including things like panniers if I plan on going to the grocery store for shopping on a bike, 2 locks etc. Just stuff to consider when considering it seriously, and I’ll probably start off simple and work my up to all the accessories that I need eventually. I’ve just felt the need to get back into it…and leave the car at home more often. Do the small part I can do to reduce my usage of materials. As in the last 6 months I’ve done 2 international trips and approximately 4 domestics, which amount to way more going into the air then I’m really used to. Even if its for work I still feel guilty.

We’ll see what happens. I’m certainly motivated to at least get started on the progress, and it’ll get me into better shape.

Spilt Tea *pout*

May 6th, 2007

Well, just had a bit of a mishap. I just boiled some water to make some green tea in a gallon pitcher. Put a spoon in the container to help with the heat and as I got about halfway full, the picture cracked and split in two. Thus spilling all the green tea out and I don’t have green tea :(. Which also means I get to go on the hunt for a couple of containers for tea.

Remind me next time to make it via sun tea method to avoid breaking things….

New additions to the family

May 2nd, 2007

Well, just found out that we don’t in fact have a male and male chinchilla. We in fact have a male and female. We’ve been given a few babies from a very protective mother. I’ve got the first pictures of the babies right here for your browsing. They are absolutely adorable. I’m happy to report mother and babies are doing well. Just will need to start handling the babies in the next few weeks to get them used to humans and being social. Enjoy the pictures =)
