Well the council has been under a lot of heat lately over the entire democracy issue. Mostly due to the fact that they are not able to react quickly to issues, because of the restraints they put on themselves to handle issues only at monthly meetings. I’ve never known there not to be emergency sessions when issues come up and don’t see why we should not allow for such a meeting to happen. Not everyone will be able to make it but if a majority are able to be there, then they should be able to make a quick decision about a matter.

So why don’t we do this, mostly because no one’s really considered it, nor implemented it. As I view it currently, the foundation actually does get stuff done, albeit it most people don’t give a flying you know what about the stuff they do, and while most care about the council…they really don’t get anything important done. I now need like three layers of flame suits on to avoid the feedback from that last comment. In all seriousness though I can think of one thing that has been noticable, mostly because of all the hoohaa over it. That is the project sunrise events. Oddly enough, many are now talking about removing things from the tree and moving it over to sunrise. So in a odd funky sort of way its gaining a note of official/unoffical status. One such package that is being considered for such a move is xmms. The project is dead as everyone has moved over to xmms2 for development instead of using the older gtk-1.3 setup. Which slowly gtk-1.3 is going to disappear as well, hopefully sooner then later.

I’ve readded google adsense to the site again, hopefully in a better place then it was previously, and hopefully it won’t be annoying to anyone who doesn’t want to see them. I tried to blend it in as easily as possible. In some ways I feel bad for adding it as I just feel dirty I guess for asking people to click on something that I even find annoying mostly. I know most people use adblock to remove them, but I do actually remove that from some sites and click on stuff to support them without actually sending my own cash towards them.

Laptop is still in the air, I’ve put another call into Adamant and of course it went to voice mail. I’ll be getting in contact with my credit card company to see what options I have with them on the matter as Adamant seems to be ignoring me currently. Again, this is advertizing to tell you to stay away from them as you can tell from my experience if you have issues, you end up stuck between a rock and an hard place. At least being stuck where I am, there’s no fear of a rising tide coming and drowning me.

Narf, I just want this done with.

p.s. Seemant congrats on the new job, I hope its what you were looking to do. As well, if I’ve not mentioned I get to meet yet another developer fairly soon, Paul Varner(fuzzyray), will be driving though and is going to stop for lunch in town. This’ll make the fourth or fifth developer I’ve met without having been to a conference. Six if you include just phone calls. I must be popular…not sure why but apparently I am.
